Hey guys, so today's prompt for the 30 Day Challenge is "Do you read? What are your favourite books?". The problem with me and reading is that I read so much that I can't pick a favourite book because every book I read becomes my favourite. So instead, I'll name a couple that first come to mind when I think of the word "favourite" and then list some of the books/comics I've read most recently.
1. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
I read this two summers ago, and I was truly amazed at how well it was written, and the suspense of wanting to know why the main protagonist Clay Jensen was given the tapes. I won't give any spoilers, but I was truly shocked when that part of the book finally arrived.
2. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Okay this is one book that I'd consider a new generation classic, and if you haven't read it I am judging you right now. This book follows Charlie, a high school freshman, as he explores the different parts of high school, deals with his mental health, and makes friends as well as enemies. This book is so good every year or two I read it again, just to refresh my mind on the story.
Now for the books I've recently read:
3. Symptoms of Being Human by Jeff Garvin
This book was beautifully written, and is about a genderfluid teenager dealing with the anxiety of dysphoria, changing schools, and many other topics. I just finished this last night after staying up until 1 AM, and it was so worth it. This was a book I could relate to so much, and the amazing thing is how you learn to not see Riley Cavanaugh as a girl or a boy, but a human being. That's how I believe we should see everyone.
4. Manic by Terri Cheney
This is a memoir about the author's struggle with bipolar disorder. If you don't know a lot about bipolar, or you are bipolar and need the feeling of knowing someone else has experienced similar to you, this is definitely a book I would pick up at Barnes and Noble.
I forgot to mention any comics, but if you were wondering what ones I love, I'm really enjoying the Suicide Squad comics right now. Also, I really love The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Servive by Eiji Otsuka nad Housui Yamazaki, as well as the Attack on Titan series by Hajime Isayama.
