Sakura (2016 Poem)

You were spring,

and I found peace in the warm breeze.

I found beauty in your flowers,

and new beginnings in your trees.

But my favourite was the sakura

with its soft tones of pink.

And unfortunately just like those cherry blossoms,

you were gone too quickly.

Why did you have to go,

and leave me with the heat and the cold.

I never understood.

And perhaps I'll never know.

But I'll wait patiently

for as long as it takes.

Until spring comes with the sakuras,

and I can see your face.

Some people have interpreted my poem here as about love, some friendship, some even death. I think that's the beauty in poetry, the many ways it can be interpreted. I really like to hear other's perception on my poetry and what they thnk it means to them. Personally the meaning of this poem changes for myself all the time, usually depending on what I'm going through and what memories have been dug back up recently.

This is as of August 2016 my latest poetry entry that has been published in an anthology, and I am very honored to be able to say that. Out of the thousands of entries they get in those contests, they chose me within that large number. They decided my poem was worthy of being published in a hardbound book alongside other extraordinary poets my age. I am very thankful for that. The feeling of being appreciated for what you do is better than almost any other feeling. Anyway, that is all for this post. I hope you enjoyed the poem, and please let me know your interpretation of this poem. I'd love to hear feedback.
